London’s own manga publisher mayamada is back on Kickstarter and with a new project. Hot Lunch is a manga graphic novel for all ages and is about a tiger in a suit (a nice suit) on a heist. The company is asking for £5,000 in all or nothing campaign which you can follow online. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/401125455/hot-lunch-the-all-ages-manga-style-graphic-novel/ […]

Yo ho ho: A review of Sea of Thieves comic book #1

March 12, 2018 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I enjoyed watching people play Microsoft’s Sea of Thieves during the beta. It looked like a proper sailing simulator and the crew mechanic was nice. In fact, I can see Twitch and Patreon perks quickly being used in conjunction with populating a crew. Titan Comics has a comic book from writer Jeremy Whitley coming out […]

BHP Comics snaps up Killtopia

March 5, 2018 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Card Shark Comics made a name for itself with Dave Cook’s Bust and Vessels. Both titles were neatly run and effective Kickstarters. It wasn’t a surprise to see Killtopia do well on Kickstarter but I don’t think anyone expected the project to raise over £16,000 from more than 850 backers. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bust/killtopia-1/ [Read about the Kickstarter] […]

Shades of Magic prequel – a new comic book by V.E. Schwab

February 14, 2018 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I enjoyed Vicious a sort-of-superhero novel from V.E. Schwab but completely missed the Shades of Magic novel. Shades of Magic is a New York Times bestseller which features parallel versions of London. There’s Red London in which life and magic is revered under the Maresh Dynasty. Then there’s Grey London, a drag realm without magic […]

A sneak peek: Fighting American – Brave New World

February 11, 2018 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEHRVu-sXts Created in 1954 by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, Fighting American is both a response to Captain America and a reaction to the culture at the time. The hero began as a serious superhero – a patriotic American fighting against evil Communists. In just a few episodes the series morphed into more of a […]

Diamondsteel turns to Kickstarter for Mean City

January 28, 2018 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Diamondsteel is a rare thing; a Scottish comic book publisher. They’ve sold over 15,000 graphic novels in the UK. They are best known for Saltire, a big, blue, Scottish superhero that looks like the national flag. Mean City is something else entirely; a crime thriller. They’re asking for £1,000 and you can follow the progress […]

Titan Comics have two new The Prisoner projects in the works, under license from ITV Studios and timed to coincide with the 50th Anniversary for the first US transmission of the show in 1968.
