Ripped bodies and adventures in leather: A review of the John Carter of Mars RPG

April 21, 2019 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’m glad I made time for John Carter of Mars. Barsoom is a fantastic setting, and the Modiphius writing team have done it justice. The adaptation of 2d20 feels spot on too.

Great story, but weird gurning faces: A review of the Thirteenth Doctor volume 1 comic book

The Thirteenth Doctor volume 1

While The Doctor is at full power, it is the rather hapless baddie that is my favourite. He/it looks like you might find threatening a planet in Dragon Ball.

Explore the Hidden World: A review of the Liminal RPG

February 23, 2019 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

There might be vampires that hunt blood and the agony of werewolves unable to control the curse, but I think, in any Liminal game, there will always be the sense it could get even worse.

The 3 books that broke my Audible algorithm

February 11, 2019 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

It may be a simple system, but it requires patience. It’s also true to say that only a selection of books in Audible’s vast library is on offer any one time.

A spicy surprise: A review of Capharnaum – The Tales of the Dragon-Marked

January 8, 2019 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Caroharnaum RPG

Capharnaum is a fantasy roleplaying game set in a world inspired by Arabian nights, Argonauts and adventure.
