Marvel superhero origins poster

June 24, 2018 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

[I need this] This poster is a dramatic team effort from Marvel Comics and Pop Chart Lab. The poster is 24″ by 36″ and with hard-illustrated comic strips shows the exciting origins of a ton of major Marvel heroes. Black Panther? Yup! Moon Knight? Hu-huh! Even Squirrel Girl.

Netflix releases their Luke Cage teaser

March 19, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Yesterday was Daredevil day as Season 2 hit Netflix and the binge watching started. Netflix took the chance to use their platform to tease us with 25 seconds of Luke Cage footage. As of yet Netflix haven’t officially released the clip to YouTube, the player above is someone’s quick edit (and may get yanked). If […]

Watch 2 minutes of Jessica Jones

October 23, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

We’ve had some teasers already but the first full length trailer for Netflix’s Jessica Jones has just dropped. Looks like the show will be as dark as suggested. Tennant as Killgrave looks to be as scary bad as he needs to be. In the comic book series Jessica Jones was, briefly, a more traditional super […]

AKA Jessica Jones poster

Did you enjoy Netflix’s Daredevil? The next in the series is AKA Jessica Jones and here’s the official poster. Jessica Jones, like Daredevil, leads up to the Defenders crossover miniseries and is set in Hell’s Kitchen. Krysten Ritter stars as the former superhero who opens her own private detective agency once she retires. Doctor Who’s […]

Superhero Week: Who is the most famous black superhero?

July 4, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood 3 Comments

Are there enough black superheroes in Marvel, DC Comics, Dark Horse or any other catalogue? Sometimes it’s easier to name green or red (Hulk, Vision, Martian Manhunter, etc) heroes than it is to name a black one. That said, the comic industry has been updating itself and it is less unusual to have a black […]

Is there a Heroes for Hire movie coming?

January 18, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Marvel is doing well at the cinema. I think movies like Guardians of the Galaxy might represent diversification as attempt to attract new audiences. The sci-fi fanbase, for example, still isn’t one that the Marvel film efforts have reached. Are there other genres that Marvel might want to target? Martial arts? A slightly more gritty […]

Must happen? Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Cage

May 29, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Power Man is a black superhero who first appeared in comicbook form back in 1972. He’s now better known as Luke Cage. The backstory is … well, what you might expect from a 1970s effort involving a black superhero. He was sent to jail for a crime he was not responsible for. However, in return […]

Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Cage in Hero Spice spoof

October 2, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Marvel call this “The Hero Your Hero Could Smell Like”. I’m sure other people will call it “How Long Can The Old Spice Spoofs Continue For”. I quite like the title “Hero Spice”. Luke Cage (aka Isaiah Mustafa) takes a quick tour of the Avengers Tower. Security is pretty rubbish because he runs intoo M.O.D.O.K., […]
