Cute or sinister? Monster dolls

November 27, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

These creature creations are the work of deviant artist Santani. The Russian has the knack of creating fantastic but slightly disturbing fantasy monsters out of fake fur and fimo. The good news is that there’s a shop. The bad news is that it’s in Russian.

Batman: Arkham City graphic novel review

November 26, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is a well written and beautifully drawn book that fills the gap between the Batman computer games. Paul Dini and Carlos D’Anda have done really well. It’s hard not to be a little frustrated by Arkham City. It is good but its role is to line up the Arkham City computer game. It’s a […]

Six new John Carter pictures

November 26, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

We’ve already had the impressive and scary looking white ape picture from Andrew Stanton’s John Carter. Now we get six more pictures and they include some quirky looking aliens and creatures. The John Carter movie, based on the classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, is due out in the first half of 2012.

Monster toys for Christmas: The Cloverfield Monster

November 26, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This pinged my radar because of big discounts Entertainment Earth but on this exclusive model. They call it an “exciting warehouse find” and it is supposed to be the only collectible figure of the monster from the 2008 Cloverfield movie. This is an electronic figure that makes roaring sounds, comes with swappable heads and includes […]

Aliens on Ice

November 25, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I think this proves there is life in the franchise yet. I’m talking about Alien and Aliens but not Prometheus. If you’re not tracking then Prometheus is the “yes it is” and “no it is not” Alien prequel. This video, however, is clearly Aliens. It’s Aliens on Ice.

Operation: Red Retrieval – the G.I. Joe fan made movie

November 24, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Operation: Red Rerieval is a 20 minute long, fan made, movie. It’s a G.I. Joe film that Hasbro has nothing to do with. The film took Mark Cheng about a year and a half of his life to complete and seems to have been very much a labour of love. He writes; Through working on […]

John Carter: The White Apes of Mars

November 24, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’m really looking forward to the John Carter movie. I’m behind in my John Carter lore (heck: I should add some of the lit to my Christmas wishlists) so the movie will act as a great catch up for me. It’s also Pixar’s first live action. Not only that; director Andrew Stanton was the directional […]
