Are you doing Christmas this year? How about doing Christmas with a twist? A portal twist? This rather awesome picture shows exactly that – a portal Christmas tree.

Phantasy Star Online 2 opening movie

December 24, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Sega have released the opening movie to Phantasy Star Online 2. Phantasy Star is a Japanese computer RPG with a proud history and fan base to match. That doesn’t mean the success of the online version is a sure-in, though. Just ask Square Enix about their Final Fantasy experiences.

Wrath of the Titans trailer

December 24, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

Wrath of the Titans is the surprising sequel to the disappointing Clash of the Titans remake. Once again we have Sam Worthington as Perseus and Liam Neeson as Zeus along with Ralph Fiennes as Hades, Bill Nighy as Hephaestus, Danny Huston as Poseidon, Edgar Ramirez as Ares and Rosamund Pike as Andromeda. Plot? Does it […]

Game of Thrones: Winter trailer

December 23, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

We’ve had teasers for Atlus’s forthcoming Game of Thrones computer RPG already – such as The Wall. This latest video from the studio is longer and is rather more of a trailer than a teaser. It’s simply called “Winter”. The trailer introduces the game, planting the action firmly in the drama we already know and […]

Fantasy Flight’s Petersen apologies for Mansions of Madness ballsup

December 23, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

It takes guts to step forward and say sorry. It takes twice as much guts to do so when you’re embarrassed about your mistake. So kudos to Christian Petersen the CEO of Fantasy Flight Games. Mansions of Madness is an expansion for Forbidden Alchemy and it had serious playability issues. In other words it snuck […]

Amazing landscapes carved into books

December 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This set of artwork from the multi-talented Guy Laramee is simply amazing. Guy is a writer, a painter, singer, sculptor and even makes instruments. That explains where all my artistic talent went, mine and five other people – all our art skills ended up in Guy instead. That said, I’m still a geek. I can’t […]

Clockwork and Chivalry 2nd Edition

December 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

“The best British fantasy setting since WFRP 1st edition.” – Newt Newport, author of OpenQuest That’s how the email notification that Cubicle 7‘s Clockwork and Chivalry has reached its 2nd edition over on DriveThru RPG. A bold claim. The 2nd edition of Clockwork and Chivalry uses new Renaissance rules; fast, grim but heroic and based […]

Game of Thrones: The Wall

December 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This trailer is from the Game of Thrones computer game from Atlus. You’ll recognise the voice actors and computer models if you’ve seen the TV series (or are just good at spotting actors). Okay, it’s short but it sets the scene….. The game is due out for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime […]

How politics works in the TERA MMORPG

December 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’m a big fan of politics in RPGs. In some settings it’s the politics that make the game for me. Back with the other internet dinosaurs and when I had time I used to play a lot on MUSHes. This wasn’t because I was writer. As you can tell – I’m not. This was because […]

Cute Game of Thrones house sigils

December 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Does “Cute” and “Game of Thrones” go together? Hmm. Not often. However, the talented Renaud Forestié has created these Game of Thrones house signals that are certainly cute. Forestié, based in Toulouse France, is a creative available for freelance work. House Lannister House Mormont House Stark House Targaryen House Tully House Arryn House Baratheon House […]
