Gangster mugshots for Batman’s baddies

May 5, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Artist Jason Mark was inspired by well dressed gangsters and villains in this Laughing Squid curated collection of Australian mugshots. The result? He turned some of Gotham’s favourite foes and Batman’s most frequent enemies into something similar. Check out his portfolio at Jempix.blogspot.ca for more fantastic (and often superhero) art.

The Rockabilly Batman and Bane

May 29, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Bob Kane and Bill Finger created Batman in 1939 and so the Dark Knight lived through the Rockabilly era of the 1950s. I suspect, though, Batman art and stories haven’t been touched by the Rockabilly style until now. I keep on wanting to type “rockability” – but I suspect that’s the gamer in me trying […]

Batman: Arkham City graphic novel review

November 26, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is a well written and beautifully drawn book that fills the gap between the Batman computer games. Paul Dini and Carlos D’Anda have done really well. It’s hard not to be a little frustrated by Arkham City. It is good but its role is to line up the Arkham City computer game. It’s a […]

Batman Live’s Batmobile

June 15, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Batmobile was revealed to a select team of geek journalists today. Geek Native wasn’t invited! No. The only conclusion this blogger can make is that the invite was lost in the post and that DC and the Batman Live team will try very hard to make up for the disappointment in some goodiebag shaped […]
