Dalek Dice: Exterminate humans for fun

February 18, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The latest Doctor Who game from Cubicle 7 is a dice game that lets you play on the side of Daleks and exterminate UNIT soldiers. Dalek Dice has packaging to die for. I love how the dice tumbler looks like a Dalek’s dangerous eye stalk. The pack comes with 10 custom Dalek dice. Watch out […]

Dark fantasy with destiny – A review of WITCH: Fated Souls

February 17, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Witch: Fated Souls first popped onto my radar when Angry Hamster took it to Kickstarter. They wanted €4,500 and raised nearly €16,000 instead. A successful Kickstarter does not mean the resulting RPG will be any good. Let’s download a copy of Witch and take a look. From the outset it is clear this is an […]

Dragon dice bags!

February 16, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Etsy retailer My Funky Camelot lets you design your own dragon dice bag by giving you a choice of colour and style. No wonder they’ve sold hundreds. Check out the product page. The bags cost around $50 and ship, worldwide, from North Carolina. These are large bags; about 9″ long and 8″ wide at the […]

Modiphius’ Conan RPG finally hits Kickstarter

February 16, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

After some chunky delays Modiphius have launched the Kickstarter for their Conan RPG and it’s already funded. The project asks for £45,000 and at the time of writing there’s still 33 days on the cloak, £54,000 in the bank from over 500 backers. You can watch the progress at the campaign page. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/modiphius/robert-e-howards-conan-roleplaying-game [Back this […]

A second chance for Altais and mankind

February 11, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Back in 2014 Altais was asking for AUD $40,000 on Kickstarter to fund a good looking fantasy RPG. That project was cancelled. This month the relaunch hit Kickstarter and is asking for a far more modest $10,000. It’s worth a look. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1121209158/altais-age-of-ruin-a-dystopian-fantasy-rpg-relaunc [Back this campaign] This isn’t just a second chance for Parhelia Games’ Aitais […]

7th Sea: Second Edition Kickstarts already

February 9, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

It was just a few months ago, in Novemeber, when we reported on John Wick buying 7th Sea back from AEG. He’s got the Kickstarter up already and it’s a smash hit. At the time of writing there’s 33 days left on the clock, $115,00 in the bank against a target of only $30,000. You […]

Mutant: Genlab Alpha looks to expand the great Mutant Year Zero

February 1, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I really liked Mutant Year Zero. Characters are mutants who’ve grown up in an Ark of mutants in the middle of a dangerous wilderness. Everything around them is dying. Their Elder is dying. The land is dying. They’re going to die. The game is about making a difference despite the likely fate, about exploring the […]

8 Far East adventure RPGs battle it out for Year of the Monkey honours

January 31, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

February 8th 2016 is the Chinese New Year. It’ll be the Year of the Monkey, in fact, it’ll be the year of the Fire Monkey. As a rule of thumb the Chinese New Year follows the second new moon after the winter solstice. That’s the tradition. It’s less traditional to pick 8 Far East RPGs, […]

Urban fantasy meets Savage Worlds: Olympus Inc

January 31, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Olympus Inc is an urban campaign setting for Savage Lands and it’ll be available if Fabled Environments are able to hit their $8,500 goal on Kickstarter. There’s more than two weeks left on the clock, at the time of writing, and they’re more than halfway there. For the latest stats check the campaign page. [Back […]
