April 20, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

It’s been a busy Game of Thrones – what with the first episodes appearing on TV and the second series already being signed off. News of the second series will make the Sky Atlantic Game of Thrones Facebook game more attractive for players as it reduces the risk of the app being yanked. The extra […]

Tribute to Elisabeth Sladen, 1948-2011

April 20, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

I did not want to post anything about the death of Elisabeth Sladen this morning. The news was sad and I was very quickly annoyed by blogs leaping on the celebrity death bandwagon. It’s lunch now. I’ve had half a day to think about it. How can Geek Native not mark the passing of Elisabeth […]

A video catchup of all 47 years of Doctor Who – in just a few minutes

April 16, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The talented pair and YouTube success story known as The Fine Brothers have all four feet planted on the Doctor Who bandwagon. They’ve put together an oratory wonder by walking us through all 47 years of Doctor Who in just 6 minutes. I’m glad they’ve done this. I’m well aware there is a large percentage […]

China bans time travel

April 15, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

There will be no Doctor Who on Chinese TV. There won’t be any Star Trek either. Why not? The Chinese govenment has banned any and all time travel in TV or in movies. There. Of course. That’s your answer. If you’re wondering why the Chinese have done this then you need to consider the importance […]

Hush, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The BBC have released more Doctor Who pictures and in them, we finally get to see the Silence. All year we’ve been wondering about what “Silence Will Fall” might mean and now The Daily Fail, of all people has these pictures along with speculation Amy Pond will die. The red top does not cite any […]

Fans vote on Cheryl Cole to be the first female Doctor

April 6, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Let’s be clear about this – when SFX magazine ran a poll to ask fans which actress should be the next Doctor in Doctor Who they had to brush the 1999 Comic Relief short with Joanna Lumley playing the Doctor aside. Let’s also be clear about Cheryl Cole and the vote. Doctor Who fans did […]

Thundercats trailer from Wondercon

April 4, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The good thing about conventions you miss is that there may still be YouTube videos from them that are worth watching. Case in point – this Thundercats trailer. At 2 minutes long this is a hefty trailer that shows you the illustration quality and likely plot quality. Just a concern though. There’s still no sign […]

April 4, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The first episode of the Starz “rescued” Torchwood is called Miracle Day. If you’re super sensitive to spoilers then I don’t imagine you’ll be on this trailer post in the first place but just in case you subscribe to the RSS feed scroll a way now. Also, geeks who subscribe to the RSS feeds are […]

BBC America teases us with new Doctor Who trailer

April 1, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

This one looks just as good as the series 6 Doctor Who trailer we got from the main BBC YouTube account yesterday. This trailer shows us a little more. It’s perhaps a touch more action focused a little less like a dark fairytale but that’s probably there for local tastes. I like both!
