The LEGO Movie trailer

June 19, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I wonder how long they spent on the name of the movie. I think they could have called it anything they want but that we’d all just call it the LEGO movie instead. The time, instead, must have gone on the script. Okay so it’s a Muppets like “save us from the baddie with jokes” […]

June 11, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Due out at the end of the year, the second part of The Hobbit, is The Desolation of Smaug. This trailer shows us some more elf, orc, spider, Legolas and dragon action. Smaug doesn’t look like a “could be kind and wise” dragon. Not at all. This is the UK trailer.

A review of 009 Re: Cyborg

June 8, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

009 Re: Cyborg is an anime from Ghost in the Shell’s Kenji Kamiyama and Production I.G. I watched it here in Edinburgh, on a big cinema screen, as it’s the debut title from new Scottish based anime distributor Anime Limited. In short; it’s a cracking film, thoroughly engaging and blisteringly contemporary. Then it stops and […]

James Gunn will start to film the Guardians of the Galaxy TV series, part of Marvel’s phase 2, in the UK this month. Probably. The cast continues to grow in surprising, impressive and slightly insane ways. The latest addition is Karen Gillan who played Amy Pond in Doctor Who. Gillan has some indie credits to […]

With her stardom shining brightly, Jennifer Lawrence is not only remaining loyal to the X-Men reboot franchise by signing on for Days of Future Past but she’s subjecting herself to the blue make-up treatment again. Riddick trailer

May 16, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

It’s the third in the series, following from Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. Pitch Black is now 13 years old, having come out in 2000 and Chronicles of Riddick is only a little younger having made it to the big screens in 2004. The plot is familiar. It’s headhunters versus Riddick, the planet is […]
