It’s not been an easy ride for Ant-Man but now, at least, there’s an official movie poster. There’s Michael Douglas, Paul Rudd and an ant steed. Look at that ant! Also; there’s the Ant-Man costume which looks pretty high-tech. There’s a lot of neon. I said “official” poster … and that kinda works as it […]

Big Hero 6 trailer
This animation just happens to be Disney’s first use of Marvel characters since they bought the company. It’s not a Pixar animation either. The Big Hero 6 team first appeared in 1998’s Sunfire and Big Hero 6 #1 in a series which saw the Japanese government creating a state-approved roster of superheroes. There’s no clue […]
Let’s hope Guardians of the Galaxy breaks the usual “long trailer” rule
Have you heard of this rule – “the longer the trailer – the worse the movie”? I have. Sad to say that it often holds true. I remain a huge fan of all the Guardians of the Galaxy trailers but I’m beginning to wonder at the tactics. Why so many long clips? One theory is […]
Superhero Week: The Posthuman Project
The Posthuman Project looks awfully good for an Indie Superhero Film. It’s a tough genre to crack; you’ve got the budget for special effects, you need actors who can pull it off and characters that viewers actually care about. The powers need to be catchy while not distracting from the plot. The Posthuman Project asks […]
Superhero Week: First look at Superman in Dawn of Justice
This is the first official look at Superman in Dawn of Justice – the film more often called Batman v Superman. In fact, there’s a host more superheroes in the movie than just those two. Gal Gadot is in as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. We’ll also see Jesse […]
Monstrous: A review of the One Piece Movie – Strong World
I was lucky. The first time I watched Strong World was years ago and on the big screen during the 2010 Scotland Loves Anime. It was actually my introduction to One Piece. When I went from the movie to the original show it was quite a change. That’s because the show is so old it […]
Dark concept art for a NeverEnding Story redesign
I’m not aware of any official plan for a NeverEnding Story reboot. That’s probably a good thing. In the mean time we can enjoy these concept art pieces from Nicolas Francoeur. Nicolas’s vision is of a darker and perhaps slightly more surreal world. You can see more of these designs over at Concept Art World.
Del Toro announces Pacific Rim 2 and animated series
More Kaiju, more Jaeger and more action. Guillermo del Toro makes the announcement of a Pacific Rim 2 along with the animated series. He’ll be teaming up with screenwriter Zak Penn. The idea of Pacific Rim 2 is an interesting one. The giant mech vs monster movie always had a cult following but some were […]
Extended TV trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy
There’s about a month before Guardians of the Galaxy is out in the States. The marketing machine is at full speed and new footage keeps coming. The latest trailer is a minute long and mixes never seen before footage with some of the now familiar scenes. The expectations around Guardians of the Galaxy are growing. […]
A gamble: A review of Mardock Scramble – The Third Exhaust
Mardock Scramble: The Third Exhaust is the third film to accompany the TV series. I’ve not seen the episodes but I was able to watch Mardock Scramble: The First Compression and Mardock Scramble: The Second Combustion on the big screen during Scotland Loves Anime. As it happens, I actually had to double check that this […]
