Of Onionskins and Seven Dogs: A review of Aletheia

September 23, 2015 by Paul Baldowski Leave a Comment

Role-playing can become an expensive hobby if you go down certain routes. Game companies have cottoned on to the concept of core rulebooks that provide just enough material to get you going. Once you’re in, they flash supplemental material and adventures in your direction, in the hope that you’ll bite. Sometimes, the material on offer […]

Review of Fringe: The Zodiac Paradox

August 3, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I miss Fringe the TV series. The good news is that there are books to keep the world alive. My first trip back into the alternative timelines and similar dimensions is with Christa Faust’s The Zodiac Paradox. This book puts the focus on a young Walter and William Bell. In fact, we’re there when Walter […]

Fringe 5 season promo

August 20, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’m not sure there’s such a thing as spoilers in Fringe. We know what’s going to happen. We’ve seen it. How much of “how it happens” and “what happens next” that season 5 lets us enjoy isn’t clear. Hopefully they’ll managed to balance those demands and give us the closure we’ll keenly need.

J.J. Abrams and Favreau’s Revolution trailer

May 15, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This sounds like a winning combo. J.J. Abrams is the man behind the Star Trek reboot film, Lost, Fringe and Alcatraz. Jon Favreau is the man resposible for the Iron Man movie and Cowboys & Aliens. I enjoyed the latter. The team have paired up for a post-apocalyptic drama called Revolution. It’s airing in the […]

Leonard Nimoy as you’ve never seen him before: the Bruno Mars music video

May 29, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is a music video for Bruno Mar’s album Doo-Wops & Hooligans (iTunes link). It’s all about Leonard Nimoy. I didn’t spy much of a Fringe shoutout in it but there’s more than enough Star Trek references. The vid’s clealry working. There’s been over a quarter of a film views on YouTube since this went […]

Fringe Firefly mashup to support the show

December 30, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

I’m a great big Fringe fan and I worry the American network will take it away from me. There’s a real risk. They keep on messing with the schedule, which always impacts audience numbers and then the networks point out audience numbers aren’t what they should be. When Fringe returns to American TV it has […]

Fringe’s Brown Betty pictures; the musical episode

April 17, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Brown Betty is the musical episode of Fringe. Yep; they sing in Fringe. Thanks to Patrick Lee at SciFi Wire we get to peak at some of the pictures from this musical version. SciFi Wire is the blog for SyFy. I don’t know if it’ll become SyFy Wire but, so far, I’m glad it’s kept […]
