The latest trailer has just dropped for Other Mommy, and it’s definitely building on creepiness as we get more insight into the child, mother and demon-who-looks-exactly-like-mother dynamic.
Directed by Rob Savage, and based on Incidents Around the House by Bird Box author Josh Malerman, the movie stars Jessica Chastain as the mother of Bela, and also a demonic creature that shifts its shape to look exactly like people (mainly Bela’s mum) but can also distorts itself into other more horrifying forms.
We haven’t seen any of the more horrifying forms yet in this trailer, which makes me wonder how hard (or not) Savage is going to lean into the original book’s plot – but I really hope he doesn’t go lightly on us.
Arabella Olivia Clark (The Housemaid) stars as Bela, who slowly begins to realise that ‘Other Mommy’ may not be as good as she first seems, as she gradually starts putting more pressure on Bela to let her ‘into her heart’.

I’m a huge fan of the book, so hoping this will be a great adaptation where we see Chastain stretched to more unnatural and creepy inhuman forms that’ll blow our minds. Just maybe not yet, but hopefully it’s coming.
And you’ll be able to watch Other Mommy when it hits cinemas on the 9th October, just in time for spooky season. Isn’t that exciting?
