February 24, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The BBC have announced this morning that Samuel Anderson is joining Doctor Who. He’ll play a character called Danny Pink who works at Coal Hill School. Fans should know Coal Hill School for two reasons. Last year it was shown that Clara Oswald works there. In the very first episode of Doctor Who the teachers […]

That’s what happened with these official 50th Anniversary Doctor Who mugs. The only place to buy them is directly from the […]

Doctor Who Valentine’s Day Cards

February 11, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

It might be a little late to order them now but last year’s limited edition WHO – ValenTime Cards are still available from Tom Kurzanski’s Etsy store. He does offer expedited shipping, though. You do get a pack of 10 in your order. I suspect this means only shops, conferences or perhaps bloggers looking for […]

Beating Retreat with Doctor Who

February 3, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Beating Retreat is a military ceremony that dates back to the 16th century in England. The system was used to recall patrols to their castle and has had other names like Watch Setting. The military forces in the Commonwealth still practise Beating Retreat, well some of them do, as it’s good practise and keeps the […]

Part TARDIS, part dalek and part dress

January 31, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Here’s cosplay worthy of Gallifrey – although the subject might worry those Time Lords. Cosplayer Bewitched Raven has created a hybrid dress, a mixture of TARDIS and dalek complete with a light from each on her headband. The photography is by CONography who, as the name suggests, specialise in convention based photography.

Photograph: 12th Doctor and Clara

January 29, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

This photograph shows Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor walking with Jenna Coleman on the set of Doctor Who. It looks like Queen Street in Cardiff and you can see the pattern of Santander, Lush and Phones 4u on Google Maps. The photo was taken by Alun Vega who has a pretty good record at […]

Fancy a Jelly Baby: A Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Sourcebook review

January 26, 2014 by Paul Baldowski 1 Comment

Travellers in the Fourth Dimension, fighting against tyranny, ignorance and dark forces beyond imagination, The Doctor and his companions have voyaged through 800 episodes. Despite the multitude of stories, you’d think a commonality in villains and plots would mean after a while you’d just start repeating yourself. However, it doesn’t necessarily occur to you, unless […]

If you find yourself in a hole…: Review of Medicine Man, for the Doctor Who RPG

January 16, 2014 by Paul Baldowski Leave a Comment

If you have access to the whole of time and space with this machine of yours, how come you always end up chasing down the same stretch of corridor? While the average episode of Doctor Who contains the events and storyline of a finite space, often to keep the story focussed and the budgets within […]

Doctor Who: Fan captures video of Peter Capaldi filming

January 14, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Possible and mild spoilers here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9aT8Vm0prQ The footage shows the 12th Doctor in… um, a nightgown? He jokes; “This is not the Doctor’s costume”. It’s good to see Capaldi being happy to spend time with fans rather than get grumpy about them filming. That’s especially true since the production team did have to ask the […]
