On A Mud-Slick Road to Hell: Review of Dead Light

August 30, 2014 by Paul Baldowski 2 Comments

Survival horror in Cthulhu – the chances seem slim, right? I mean, without even saying the words ‘survival horror’, most people who play games based upon the entities of the Cthulhu Mythos probably don’t have anything like a 10 Year Plan or bother investing in a 5 Year Diary. Investigators into the Mythos probably wouldn’t […]

Locked and loaded Halo stall style

August 29, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

How’s this for a creative and geeky bit of graffiti? It must be strangely satisfying to slam the bolt shut on that stall lock and help the Spartan reload. That’s quite a canon he has there but I’m not entirely sure he’s made the right ammo selection. (Via Imgur)

August 29, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

On the 1st of September Rarity’s Boutique opens again on Etsy. The store will take 50 orders only and those are expected to ship in October. If you miss that chance you’ll be back to the waiting game. If you do miss out then a good place to watch is the Facebook page. What’s all […]

Carnevalesque’s Destiny & Delirium cosplay

August 29, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Husband and wife couple Nanna and Steamwyck made this Sandman cosplay set for last year’s Carnevalsque. Dressed as Destiny and Delirium the pair took part in the event in Malmö, Sweden. Carnevalesque describes itself as a decadent flirt with the burlesque, the extraordinary, the retro-extravagant and the ever-excessive. (Via Geek Girl Diva at Fashionably Geek)

Short film: Survive

August 29, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 8 Comments

Take Caity Lotz from Arrow and Harry Shum Jr from Glee and put them in a short zombie film together. Actually, the back story is even better than that as this John Chu project used Second Unit Directors who were stunt coordinators and the chance to write and direct a short film with action. The […]

Forewarned Is Forearmed: A Review of Thulian Echoes

August 29, 2014 by Paul Baldowski Leave a Comment

Does anyone give a second thought to the impact an adventuring party has on their environment? As they rampage through a monster’s lair or rampage through invaded territory, they make changes, slay doers and makers, and leave carnage in their wake – so, what happens next? Oddly, this is something I have considered before as […]

Competition: Win Pyscho-Pass on Blu-ray

August 29, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 7 Comments

Pyscho-Pass is an anime about a future in which computers can read your mind and determine whether you are likely to commit a crime or not. It’s illegal just to have a state of mind in which puts you “at risk” of being a criminal. Geek Native gave the Blu-ray set a glowing review. It’s […]

Mashing Up The Strange: A Review of When Worlds Collide

August 29, 2014 by Paul Baldowski Leave a Comment

The strange and incredible come in many guises and sometimes you need a helping hand making sense of it all. With the release, from Monte Cook Games, of The Strange, the Cypher System has expanded with more than 400 pages of content. Given that the game uses the same system as the acclaimed Numenera, can […]

It took just 24 hours to fund Girls on Games

August 28, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Would you Kickstart a group of essays? What if those essays came from women in the tabletop games industry and they wrote about struggles they’ve faced as well as tips and secrets for new game designers? [Back this Campaign] Elisa Teague has clearly been deeply involved in the tabletop games industry for around 15 years. […]
