The Game Girls of Nordhausen

April 8, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This photograph is doing the rounds – rightly so! This particular one was snapped by Kevin Vetters in Nordhausen in Germany. Notice how “Game Girl” is scribbled on the front? John Farrier of Neatorama tips us off that there several game girls have appeared in the city. That’s superb. We don’t know who the artist […]

April 8, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The very first episode of new Doctor Who featured some old villains known as the Autons. The episode is called “Rose” and the Autons appear as show window dummies, who attack Rose. The next day Rose is reported missing (as she’s run off with the Doctor). In the fourth episode of the first series, Aliens […]

James P Blaylock’s Homunculus review

April 7, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I came to James P Blaylock’s steampunk books via his most recent novel The Aylesford Skull. I enjoyed the book and decided to read through some of his previous books starting with Homonculus. What a surprise. This feels like a very different book. The first few pages almost feel as if a different author was […]

Inspired by a Game of Thrones, Mike DeWolfe has created the Throne of Nerds. Just as the Iron Thorne was made from melted swords these nerdy throne was created from melted keyboards lashed and stuck together. There are some nice touches – most the ESC keys have been scorched off to symobilise how impossible escape […]

Avery & Pete Superseeds

April 7, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Superseeds is a superhero movie with a few twists. The first twist is that it comes from a $17.5K Kickstarter, so it’s a crowdfunded venture rather than a Holywood production. The second twist? This is the story of an unlikely bunch of heroes and weed. A pair of roommates, Avery and Pete, don’t seem to […]

Birthday present idea for the GM who already has all the books

April 7, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

[Back this Campaign] Hopefully I’m not alone in that I tend to view Kickstarter projects with an eye for whether I’d like the final product or not. When I back a game I do so because I think I might want to play it. I just backed these Fudge dice because I needed some. When […]
