This video of a Hot Wheels remote controlled car zipping around a stake park in Venice Beach is pretty cool. The car is a Ken Block Fiesta RC and it can clearly turn on a dime. I imagine this is only possible because of the incredible power to weight ratio it has. However, it’s a […]

The BBC is reporting that Dundee Uni researchers have invented the sonic screwdriver. So, how does the Doctor Who device work? The Dundee University researchers have created a machine which uses ultrasound to lift and rotate a rubber disc floating in a cylinder of water. It is said to be the first time ultrasound waves […]
Sponsored Video: Galaxy Note PS – my thoughts
This post contains an advert video from Samsung for the Galaxy Note. I decided to post it because I think the Note is worth talking about. I’m just back from The Gadget Show Live and one of my main observations was that the iPhone was hardly insight. To be clear, the iPad was everywhere and […]
Festo’s flying robot bird at The Gadget Show Live 2012
Without a doubt, for me, one of the highlights of The Gadget Show Live this year was the appearance of Festo’s bird robot in the Super Theatre. The Super Theatre houses a live stage show where The Gadget Show presenters entertain the audience for an hour. It’s also one of the best places to see […]
Animated cartography: the Perpetual Ocean
Using NASA/JPL’s computation model called Estimating the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean, DJX Atlanta have created a visualisation that shows surface currents of the oceans. It wants to keep its lead in areas like robotics and continue to support the growing tech scene there. The phrase “magic show” might put you off – don’t let it. This is a hi-tech […]
HTC’s Free Fall: Smartphone photography at 126mph
HTC arranged a free fall – a skydive – to demonstrate the photographic capability of their new HTC One series. As you might expect from HTC there was a cunning twist. This wasn’t a normal skydive. This free fall was also a full on fashion shoot. Step forward (and out of the plane) Roberta Mancino. […]

Computer game powerblog Kotaku has the juicy news of a trusted but protected source spilling the beans on PlayStation’s plans for the next gen console. The PlayStation 4 is currently known as Orbis. This could be the project name (like Durango) or it might actually be the name of the console. Sony may wish to […]
