Industry watchers ICv2 have released their research on which RPGs sold best in the Winter of 2013. This data is based on interviews with retailers, distributors and manufacturers. It’ll be US-centric too. The result? These charts aren’t bulletproof but still a pretty good indicator.
You can see the chart for Summer 2013 here which had Pathfinder in first place, Dungeons & Dragons in 3rd and Fate Core making an appearance in 5th.
- Pathfinder (Paizo Publishing)
- Star Wars (Fantasy Flight Games)
- Fate Core System (Evil Hat)
- Dungeons & Dragons (Wizards of the Coast)
- Iron Kingdoms (Privateer Press)
With Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition on the close horizon, it makes sense that D&D isn’t selling all that it could be right now. The iconic title has slipped further, dropping from 3rd on the chart to 4th. Are you buying?
Evil Hat did well, I thought, to get Fate Core into the top 5 in the summer. Until recently I would not have predicted they would maintain their slot but we’ve seen a range of great RPGs coming out that use Fate Core. The result? On-going Fate Core love.
