Geek Native once asked Who brought back Strax?. The Sontaran did seem to die at the Battle of Demon’s Run but we saw him alive and well as the comedy sidekick in The Snowmen.
There had been hints that someone powerful or something special had brought back the maid/commander. This video doesn’t completely rule it out but does seem to make that seem less likely.
