One of the great benefits that virtual tabletops like Fantasy Grounds offer is the ability to help manage inventory.

Renegade, with help from Daryl Royal, now has the G.I. Joe Roleplaying Game Quartermaster’s Guide to Gear Sourcebook available. It’s a sigh of relief from G.I. Joe GMs who don’t have to paper manage that arsenal.
The new sourcebook delivers a formidable cache of weapons, vehicles, and character options for both G.I. JOE and COBRA operatives. The Quartermaster’s Guide to Gear is the latest expansion for the Essence20-powered tabletop game, offering players and GMs a wealth of new hardware to bring to the fight.
This new guide significantly expands the equipment available to characters. The book details 16 new weapons drawn from the extensive history of G.I. JOE, along with a new armour type and 40 distinct upgrades. For those who prefer to be behind the wheel, or even at the command of a mobile fortress, the book also provides statistics for 18 new vehicles.
It’s not all about the gear, though. The Quartermaster’s Guide to Gear also introduces new mechanical options for character creation and progression. Each of the game’s Roles receives a new Focus, such as the Drone Pilot for the Infantry Role or the Neutralizer for Technicians, offering new areas of specialisation.

Player characters can also be built with three new Origins and eight new Influences, designed to root them more firmly in a world of high-tech military hardware. Options like the Junker or the Futurist origin suggest characters with a specific relationship to technology.
The G.I. JOE Roleplaying Game uses the Essence20 system, first seen in Renegade’s Power Rangers RPG. As Geek Native has previously reported, this system is designed to be cross-compatible, and this is evident in the new book. The guide provides rules and advice for setting campaigns in different technological eras, including historical, retrofuture, and even cyberpunk settings, allowing GMs to tailor the feel of their G.I. JOE saga.
For many fans, the most exciting additions will be the ready-to-use statistics for iconic G.I. JOE and COBRA bases. The supplement includes full write-ups for legendary locations such as the COBRA Terror Dromes and the colossal G.I. JOE aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Flagg. The inclusion of these famous headquarters provides GMs with everything they need to stage epic sieges or tense infiltrations.

To make full use of the Quartermaster’s Guide to Gear, groups will need the G.I. JOE Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook. The publisher also strongly recommends the COBRA Codex for any group wishing to run campaigns centred on the infamous global criminal organisation, a book which provides rules for playing as COBRA agents.
