Gallifrey Cabaret and production company Just Something Different are staging It’s Behind Who!, an 18+ Doctor Who-themed adult pantomime, at London’s Pleasance Theatre from 9 to 19 December 2026. The production translates the troupe’s established queer cabaret format into a structured festive narrative, unofficially stepping in for the cancelled 2026 television Christmas Special.
The production bridges the gap between fan-creation and official franchise legitimacy by casting Sophie Aldred, best known as the Seventh Doctor’s companion, Ace, as the show’s narrator. Aldred’s involvement follows her recent spotlight on the cover of Doctor Who Magazine Issue 635 in October 2026, where she discussed 1980s television, feminism, and her personal appreciation for drag culture, making her a thematic fit for this specific production.
Intellectual Property and Parody
The production relies heavily on Doctor Who iconography, promising appearances by familiar foes and including a satirical review quote from “Davros” in their marketing materials. However, Just Something Different explicitly marks the event as an unofficial fan-created production, operating independently of the BBC. The core cast includes Reece Connolly, Carrot, Mariana Trench, So Faux, YuGiHoe, and The Fat Black Duchess.
Accessibility
The Pleasance Theatre’s official ticketing page currently warns that the North Road lift is temporarily out of service, rendering the Main House inaccessible to wheelchair users or those requiring step-free access at this time.
