Terrain: Lizardmen Pillar ruins

January 26, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

These fantastic terrain enhancements were built for a Warhammer game. The designer, William90, is interested in Nerf and robotics, so he’s clearly quite a creative chap. Instructions for building your own lizardman pillar can be found at Instructables if you fancy having a go. The moss-slicked standing stone, shaped like a gargantuan question mark, stood […]

Mongoose Publishing report “miserable RPG market”; print never to recover

December 5, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Mongoose Publishing is a British RPG publisher. They grew quickly and cleverly during the d20 and OGL era and has been wise with license deals since. I get the feeling unpleasant staffing decisions are taken bravely as and when they’re needed. Despite all this savvy, Matthew Sprange, the owner, has reported a pretty bleak picture […]

Reaper Miniatures’ Bones becomes the 10th $1,000,000+ Kickstarter

August 20, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The gaming companies are doing so well at Kickstarter. Successes are coming from places that, I safely predict, mainstream press would not have expected and show the size of the RPG community. Reaper Miniatures have just become the 10th company to hit $1,000,000 on Kickstarter. Their campaign, to fun a range of Bones minis has […]

EA admit to using GW’s tank design – except not

April 15, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Yesterday the question was asked is EA stealing Games Workshop tank design?. It was a fair question to ask because the Games Workshop designed Baneblade looked an awful lot like a tank that later appeared in EA’s free-to-play Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances. The catch? The tank was never used by EA. GameSpot managed to […]
