Meet the 150 pound white chocolate R2-D2

April 10, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

That’s a lot of chocolate! This R2-D2 was created from white chocolate by Pastry Chef Fernando Arreola at the hotel Fairmont San Jose. The Chef was inspired by the Star Wars Exposition at the Tech Museum across the street. We should send chefs to Star Wars expositions more often, I say. Via Geeks Are Sexy.

The birth of the lightsaber

April 7, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The official Star Wars YouTube has shared this birth of the lightsaber video. Have you noticed how the first lightsaber battles were fought using a two-handed hold? It was only later on that one-handed tactics were used. An interesting point is this – in a world of ray-guns is a lightsaber an offensive or defensive […]

Geeky workouts

April 6, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Is “geeky workout” an oxymoron? Hmm, I suspect not, some of the geeks I know are also gym bunnies. I think Neila Ray might also classify. Her site has everything from workouts to fitness tips and recipes… but there’s a geeky flare too. For example, these visual workouts are a case in point.

Steampunk Stormtrooper cosplay

March 29, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Not your usual Stormtrooper? A first time cosplayer was inspired by the steampunk Star Wars works of Bjorn Hurri. I understand why! Hurri’s art is fantastic and has been featured on Geek Native before. This is the piece that the cosplay is based on, I think. Via Fashionably Geek.

Theatre pipe organ plays Star Wars

March 27, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is all types of impressive. I’m told the pipe organ is an incredibly hard instrument to learn how to play and even harder to master. This video shows you why; all those keys, foot peddles and extra switches. The complexity of the pipe organ would count for nothing if this was a poorly done […]

The AT-AT Walker bed – to protect against nightmares

March 26, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Someone has Parenting Skills at level 20. This AT-AT Walker is straight out of Star Wars and I can think of no safer bed. The chances of the bogeyman being an expert level X-Wing fighter pilot seem low.

Geeked: The Cone of Shame

March 22, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is what happens when a geeky pet owner transforms the dreaded cone of shame. Do you think the dog prefers the style?

Transform your toilet into Star Wars’ Sarlacc Pit

March 16, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

That famous scene from Return of the Jedi in which the heroes battle Jabba and Boba Fett in the desert above the hungry Sarlacc Pit. I wonder what the new Disney Star Wars films will do for Boba Fett? This design is for people with clean loos and for those who aren’t afraid to roll […]

Top selling RPGs this winter: D&D slips even lower

March 13, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Industry watchers ICv2 have released their research on which RPGs sold best in the Winter of 2013. This data is based on interviews with retailers, distributors and manufacturers. It’ll be US-centric too. The result? These charts aren’t bulletproof but still a pretty good indicator. You can see the chart for Summer 2013 here which had […]

Artoo bodycon dress for those with humble Jedi budgets

March 10, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Geek blogs feature Black Milk designs all the time. They’re sexy, geeky and desirable. The catch? They’re not cheap. What if you wanted a Star Wars styled dress that was much kinder to your purse? Step up Attitude Clothing with this “Artoo Bodycon” design. It certainly manages to remind me of a certain Star Wars […]
