First picture: The Desolation of Smaug

December 9, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is the first official picture from the second of the three The Hobbit movies. The first movie is The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and the second is The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. I think Samug will be popular. He’s voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch; star of Sherlock and Star Trek into Darkness.

The alternative The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey trailer

August 5, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is the second trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Truth be told it’s very similar to the first. In fact, you’ll have to watch out for just a few seconds of differences from the first.

The Hobbit video diary – the last of the filming & Comic-Con

July 23, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I don’t know if you’ve been following Peter Jackson’s video diaries from The Hobbit but this one is worth watching. This won’t be the last video diary but it is the last one from filming. Didn’t Comic-Con look scary? All those die hard fans. You can tell that Peter Jackson isn’t really looking forward to […]

The Hobbit trailer is here

December 21, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

It’s here. The Hobbit! Well. Okay. The Hobbit movie isn’t here… but we do now have The Hobbit trailer. What do you think? At a glance I think the movie looks to have captured the differences in feel between The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The first book was always a little more […]

First picture of Bilbo Baggins

June 23, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Those lucky, blogger loving, scamps at Entertainment Week have got their hands on the first official pictures of one Mr Martin Freeman all dressed up as Bilbo Baggins. There is no official permission to share this Hobbit photograph but I can sense that both their editorial team and their legal department really want small, grass […]

Hobbit news: Stephen Fry joining, Weaving returns and photo of McKellen as Gandalf

May 20, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Here’s a quick The Hobbit news round-up. It’s about time we’ve found the time to mention this rather important movie here at Geek native. First up is the news that Stephen Fry will be joining The Hobbit’s cast along with the seven foot tall Conan Stevens. Fry will be playing The Master of Laketown. Conan […]

Rumour control: David Tennant to play Legolas’ father

January 12, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Thranduil the Eleven King

Will Doctor Who’s David Tennant play Sindarin Elf King Thranduil? Thranduil is, of course, arch-archer Legolas‘s father. The Hobbit casting rumour mill is in full force as the echo chamber mulls this over. MovieWeb think so but admit it’s not been confirmed. It’s been widely known-or-speculated that Tennant tried out for the role of Bilbo […]

Doctor Who duo Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have a series about to air on the BBC. It stars Bendict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as Watson in a contemporary re-make. The program is due to air shortly and is already been trailed on the TV. What do you think? Is the modern re-make […]
