Tomorrow’s Tech Today: HoloDesk and OmniTouch

October 23, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Two videos for tech fiends and futureheads that are proving popular this week are the OmniTouch and Microsoft’s HoloDesk. Don’t expect pumping music and fancy demos as both videos are technical and straight foward – but if you apply just a little imagination you can see what both sets of technology might mean for entertainment […]

Ultramodern 4: Dias Ex Machina’s D&D evolution goes OGL

October 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Dias Ex Machina will be offering their universal 4th under the Open Gaming License. This means that the raw files can be downloaded for free and any publisher in the GSL can use the rules too. However, the final product from Dias Ex Machina – you know, with art, layout and extra – will be […]

A Game of Shadows trailer

October 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I can be clear about this – I’m looking forward to Sherlock Holmes 2. We saw the heroic investigator in drag in the first trailer and I didn’t know what to make of it. I’m still not sure and we see that scene again for this second, much longer trailer. However; we also get to […]

Scott Pilgrim meets Eric Speed

October 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I think the suggestion here is that 8-bit gaming is now considered very cool. This video combines violins, with an old pop cover and some Scott Pilgrim style 8-bit battles. If you really like the music then you can scoop it up from iTunes as a single. If you’re like me you’ll not notice the […]

Responsible? No. Fun? Yes! Archery reenactment

October 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is what happens when you put some medieval reenactment togther with a stag weekend. I know what you’re thinking – is that wise? Probably not – but they did it anyway. This blogger always knew that SCA didn’t really stand for Society for Creative Anachronism but for Society of Consenting Adults, he just didn’t […]

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm preview

October 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

New units and new tactics. Oh, and one hell of a preview trailer too – welcome to StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Heart of the Swarm is an expansion to StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and a sequel. It’s not part three of the trilogy; that’s expected to be Legacy of the Void. Heart […]

Sadly, the plush Portal 2 turret won’t make Christmas

October 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Aww. Double aww. The first aww is because this deadly warrior is so cute. This mechanical killer is perfect for cuddling and playing with. That’s right; you will soon be able to buy your very own 14.5″ Portal 2 turret. The second aww is because you’re unlikely to get this for Christmas (that the shopping […]

Wandering monster tea set

October 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Designer Jose Paulo Alves Corceiro came up with this “Nasty Set” for serving tea. Sure, I think the square cups might present something of a drinking challenge but they do look somewhat charming despite their frowns. It’s hard not to look at this collection and consider it the wandering monster tea set. Via Yanko Design.

Dragon takes over a building with projection mapping

October 20, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Okay, we’ve seen projection mapping before on Geek Native – for example Tron projection mapping, The Gadget Show and Space Invaders as well as Hyundai going all 3D with it. This dragon projection mapping is one of my favourites though – dragon! Okay, it’s an advert but it’s still pretty cool.
