Miniature dioramas by Thomas Doyle

August 27, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’m no snow globe fan but there’s a lot to be said for Thomas Doyle’s detailed and imaginative miniature dioramas. I’m no good at describing art, so I’m going to quote directly from the New York-based artist himself; The pieces’ radically reduced scales evoke feelings of omnipotence—as well as the visceral sensation of unbidden memory […]

EVE Online’s EBANK 1.2 trillion ISK in debt

August 26, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Many EVE Online players will find that they can’t get hold of their money. I’m not an EVE player but I know it for two reasons; a) the White Wolf merger and b) the economy. The economy in EVE Online works well. You see; in a fantasy MMO players are forever running around in dungeons […]

Zombies LARP

August 26, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

In this game, zombies must shuffle around – you know, like zombies. They should have their arms out in front of them and moan – you know, like zombies.

PlayStation Network movies come to the UK this November

August 26, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Looks like I might see Terminator Salvation or Transformers 2 after all. If they’re not available on Virgin on Demand (aka verging on the deranged) I’ll be able to get them via the PS3 and the PlayStation Network. I’ve been able to download movies for a long while over Xbox Live. After watching one Batman […]

District 9 score samples (via @scifi_online)

August 26, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Sci Fi Wire have posted a Sony widget that lets you sample some of the District 9 score. I’m going to find the time to go see the movie after it launches in the UK (early September) but I suspect the score is worth grabbing of iTunes and using a gamer backdrop music.

Fantastic wooden horse sculptures

August 26, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’m always jealous of people with any artistic skill at all. These fantastic wooden horse sculptures are by the artist Heather Jansch, and she has an easy-to-use gallery on her site where you can preview some more of her work. Much of her wood is collected from the coast as well. Good to see that […]

You Know Your GM’s Evil When…

August 25, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

One of the most popular features on GameWyrd was the “You Know Your GM’s Evil When…” section. As usual Wyrdlings could submit their own suggestions and vote for how good other people’s suggestions are. The following is the complete and full list. It’s listed in order with the top suggestions after nearly 4 years of […]

Iron Man: Armoured Adventures trailer

August 25, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The forthcoming Iron Man: Armored Adventures DVD from ITV DVD and Marvel now has a sneak peak on YouTube. The video doesn’t show much in the way of story line but a series of snippets and action sequences. YouTube comments seem generally positive and at the time of posting the video has pulled up to […]

Geeky map tech with the Maptor

August 25, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

There’s always been something geeky about torches. Even before we really had “geek tech” there was a kudos to owning a maglite you could go adventuring with/bash orcs over the head with. The Maptor is something special. It’s not really a torch. It’s a a hand-held projector and a map. Not quite sure how easy […]

Weird GameWyrd Game Awards Wyrd Winners 2005

August 24, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

These results are really really late! They’re late! What can we say? We? There’s only one of us (shush Smeagol) and the Wyrdmaster was ambushed by RealLife™ (failed saving throw). What does this mean? There were an extra day or two of votes and then a big delay as the database sat idle. Fear not, […]
