I’ve a small treasure chest of anime shipping its way to me thanks to Zavvi’s sale/party for Manga’s 20th birthday. Now, because I’ve been on their site, their retargeting campaign has kicked in. They’re using Struq which is a pretty good set up but a combination of typos and awkward headlines have produced this. The […]

Noir live action TV series
Watch how I avoid making “Noir of the living dead” jokes as I reveal that Sam Raimi is involved in a Starz backed “Noir” live action. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are co-producers; this is the Xena: Warrior Princess team, they are the same people who brought us Spartacus: Blood and Sand and Gods of […]
Karigurashi no Arrietty / Arrietty review
Arrietty was the anime to feature in the Edinburgh International Film Festival before a general UK release in July. Without question; it’s a film to watch. The film is based on Mary Norton’s The Borrowers. I’ve not read the book. I’ve not seen the children’s TV series made by the BBC or even the 1997 […]
Blade – the daywalker’s anime trailer
Madhouse, Marvel and Animax have teamed up to put together an anime version of Blade. Is it about time? Did you know Blade first made a comic book appearance back in 1973 when he appeared in The Tomb of Dracula #10? Wikipedia could be tricking me for all I know; he feels a far younger […]
The Doctor Who anime
This is a fan made Doctor Who anime that shows that a quality, non-CBBC, Doctor animation could work. The vid is about 13 minutes long but it’s best thought of as an extended trailer that shows lots of the plot rather than an actual mini-clip. Our Doctor is the Third Doctor and we have daleks, […]
Karigurashi no Arrietty / The Borrowers Arrietty
Based on the classic book The Borrowers, Studio Ghibli‘s latest film is Karigurashi no Arrietty. The good news is that the anime will get shown at a number of UK locations before its general release. The Barbican gets the film on the 6th of July and on the 18th and 20th of June, as part […]
Cyber Coil now available on iTunes
This needs to happen more often. Since the 19th of February iTunes users in the UK have been able to download Cyber Coil. This is an anime series from Anime World set in the near future where internet-linked eyeglasses aka “Cyber specs” allow the population to enjoy advanced augmented reality.
Anime X-Men trailer
We’ve got X-Men First Class to look forward to and worry about at the same time. There’s also another new X-Men franchise on the way. That’s Madhouse‘s anime version of X-Men for Animax. This is the same pair that produced the anime Ironman and Wolverine. The anime starts on April the 4th. We’re expecting to […]
Bleach anime to be cancelled?
There’s growing concern that the popular Bleach anime will be cancelled. Rumours started when the Japanese rock group ROOKiEZ is PUNK’D published a blog post that said their song “Song for…” was a “fitting” end theme for Bleach anime’s final season. To make matters worse, ROOKiEZ is PUNK’D then deleted the post. The deletion, I […]
Project Ninja revealed: It’ll be an anime MMO
We’ve been hearing a bit about a secret “Project Ninja” with blogs speculating what it might be about. At the end of last year Geek Native published the first set of character illustrations and noticed how much like Naruto and Bleach they were. Now we know the truth. Project Ninja will be an anime MMO. […]
