Two new bundles have been uploaded to Drivethru RPG this morning. They caught my eye. Mega bucks of saving. DTRPG 10th Annivesary (RPG) Bundle is normally worth $150.42 but you can have it for $10 DTRPG 10th Anniversary (RPG 2) Bundle costs $168.16 outside the sale but is currently priced at only $10 This means […]

Expert advice: How to manage magic and mystery without annoying your players

June 9, 2014 by Guest Writer Leave a Comment

Ari Marmell, aka Mouseferatu, is a novelist that many gamers know well. He’s written novels for the likes of Wizards of the Coast and White Wolf as well as RPG material supporting D&D 4E for Expeditious Retreat Press, Pathfinder for Adamant Entertainment and plenty of World of Darkness game material for White Wolf. The Rodent […]

Kickstarter masters Modiphius have been using their rising profile wisely. The company has announced that they’ve secured the license from ITV Studios to produce a Thunderbirds tabletop game. The designer is Matt Leacock who’s well known for games like Pandemic, Forbidden Desert and Forbidden Island. The game is due out in the Autumn next year. […]

Will the GameChanger change tabletop RPGs forever?

June 8, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’ve seen some bold attempts to bring game-changing tech to the tabletop roleplaying hobby via Kickstarter before. Some look great. Some, I think, look like dead projects walking. Then there’s the GameChanger from Richard Woodfield and Splendiferous Press. Frankly I’m not sure what to make of this one. So here’s the pitch video, with loud […]

Mike Mearls leaks D&D 5 image

June 6, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Mike Mearls, the guy leading the Dungeons & Dragosn 5 development, yesterday leaked an image from the Player’s Handbook. The leak, we hope, was cleared by marketing. The picture of his “no spoilers” reminder also happened to show two pages from the book. The image came in the form of a tweet which read; It […]

Urban Shadows RPG promises corruption

June 5, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Urban Shadows looks interesting. This is a Kickstarter, but it’s already funded, and it only took a few days. In fact, Andrew Medeiros’ game currently sits at x3 the target price, so this looks like a hot one. [Back Campaign] Urban Shadows certainly tempts me, and I like the style of the pitch. I can’t […]

RPG ideas: City skulls

June 3, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Artist Evan Hobart is a talent. His set of Skull Cities is a fantastic viewing experience. Speaking as a gamer and occassional GM I think this collection oozes inspiration and ideas. Who might live in a skull city? Giant skulls or small houses? Imagine your brave heroes staggering into a woodland clearing only to discover […]

Sneak peak: Card art from the Hollywood game

June 3, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Hollywood is a board game by Russian designer Nikolay Pegasov. The game has done very well and is now expanding with an international version. The Kickstarter has, at the time of posting, two weeks on the clock and nearly double the $12,000 target. I found this review by Geek Dad’s Jonathan H. Liu to be […]
