The latest trailer for Minions and Monsters has dropped from Illumination, and as the third Despicable Me spin-off prequel in the series, it’s adding a whole new element to what we know so far about the ridiculous yellow saga.
Set roughly in the 1920s, Minions & Monsters feels like it has a complete vibe of its own, as we go deep down the rabbithole of Old Hollywood moviemaking and classic monsters… ish.
According to the official description, we’re about to meet an “entirely new tribe of Minions, who find themselves in Hollywood at the dawn of cinema. Our heroes are two brand-new Minions: James and Henry.
“This is the rambunctious, ridiculous, and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world, and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.”
Directed by Pierre Coffin, who also co-wrote the screenplay together with Brian Lynch, the film is about a pair of minions whose dream is to make successful films and in order to do that, need to create the ideal movie monsters. Things seem to spiral from there, with some wild and whacky characters and situations!
