June 1, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

E3 is shaping up to be a cracker. We can execpt lots of good announcements and a host of teasers. Warner Bros and Snowblind have their “action RPG” for Lord of the Rings nearly ready and so we can predict we’ll get an extended trailer for War in the North. What do we have right […]

Happy Together remake makes Hunted trailer fun

May 31, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’m really impressed by the music in this trailer for Bethesda Softwork’s launched-in-the-US Hunted game. Hunted is a bit of Diablo meets Dungeon Siege combat crawl but plays special attention to the nuances of having two leading characters rather than one. They’re happy together; hence the clever use of music in this age-rated trailer.

I want Location Based Gaming to be Project Cafe’s genius

May 31, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

Nintendo will announce more details about the Wii 2, aka Project Cafe at E3 or thereabout this year. We know that Nintendo are lukewarm on 3D TVs. Shigeru Miyamoto is on record (in German) in saying that Wii 2 will not be pushing the 3D angle hard. We’re left with rumours. There are rumours that […]

Wizards announce Dungeons & Dragons: Conquest of Nerath

May 29, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Wizards of the Coast have shared more information about the forthcoming Conquest of Nerath. If link doesn’t work for you – it’ll be because you’re being redirected to the Amazon UK site which doesn’t yet have the game. I hope this doesn’t point towards distributive issues for WoTC. This is a big issue for Wizards […]

Raptr does a Digg; except good

May 26, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

You can find this blogger on the gamer social network and technology site Raptr. I don’t visit the web interface very much. Instead I’d use it to keep track of what I’ve been playing and what my friends have been playing so I could make informed choices about which game to buy next. The well […]

Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale is available from today. At least; it’s available today if you’ve got access to Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360. If you’re a PC or PlayStation user then you’ll need to wait for the summer release schedule. Xboxers need to turf up 1,200 Microsoft Points for the purchase. Atari describe […]

May 24, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

UK based Mongoose Publishing, which powered into the limelight with an aggressive d20 based expansion and then pegged themselves in up high with some savvy business deals, have announced that they’re splitting from publishing partner Issaries. Isarries brought the RuneQuest and Glorantha RPG licenses with them to the Mongoose party. Those licenses leave along with […]

Shadows of the Damned: Enlarge Your Johnson

May 23, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

EA and Grasshopper Manufacture’s gory horror “Shadows of the Damned” has taken a turn for the outright silly with their “Enlarge Your Johnson” video. Not really sure what to say about this – except, fear not (quite so much), as “Johnson” refers to your weapon. Okay, the hero might hold his gun in, um, interesting […]
