WAVE!! Surfing Yappe!! is the first film in a trilogy about friendship and surfing.
Set in Ōarai in Ibaraki prefecture, the anime follows two young men who become friends and become hooked on surfing.
Together they make new friends from the surfing scene in Ōarai; however, the slice of life continues to follow them through three films, as they grow, mature and drift apart.
The two main characters, Masaki Hinaoka (voiced by Tomoaki Maeno) and Shō Akitsuki (Jin Ogasawara) are very different. Masaki is a potato loving local with a cute pet corgi. Shō is a transfer student who hopes to represent Japan.
There will be barely any time between the three parts of the trilogy as they open in Japan on October 2nd, 16th and then 30th.
Goblin Slayer’s Takaharu Ozaki is directing, but the animes are not expected to be anything alike!
