Onebookshelf and Wizards of the Coast’s DMs Guild and the sister site DriveThruRPG have today launched spotlights and bundles to raise money for Black Lives Matter and the National Police Accountability Project.
Geek Native hasn’t yet received any communications from the DMs Guild about it but noticed the bundles appearing on the site and dug into the details. In its generosity, it’s actually a somewhat complicated setup, and you’ll find bundles within spotlights.
DMs Guild BLM spotlight
You’ll find the DMs Guild Black Lives Matter spotlight here.
In the spotlight you’ll find products like CCC – Anime – 1-1 Legend of the Sword Bandit Surprise, College of Acapella and Khyber Khronicle Volume #01.
These products aren’t discounted, they are from black creators and this is a chance to support those creators.
There are three different bundles, though, and they are heavily discounted. Buying these bundles raises money for BLM causes. They are;
- Black Lives Matter – 27 5e supplements at over 90% off.
- NAACP Legal Defense Fund
- National Police Accountability Project – 30 5e supplements at over 90% off.
All proceeds from the first bundle go to Black Lives Matter. The second for NAACP which is a legal defence and educational fund run by a civil rights organisation and law firm based in New York and the National Police Accountability Project is a 501(c)(3) organisation from the National Lawyers Guild, founded back in 1937, to improve the accountability of law enforcement officers.
DriveThruRPG BLM Spotlight
DriveThruRPG has a similar setup, and it is even more well-stocked. You can get to Spotlight page here and browse either products from black creators or bundles to raise money.
Products include ATLANTIS: The Second Age, Cyberpunk Red Jumpstart Kit and Sins of the Father.
There are six bundles.
- Black Lives Matter 1
- Black Lives Matter 2
- NAACP Legal Defense Fund 1
- NAACP Legal Defense Fund 2
- National Police Accountability Project 1
- National Police Accountablity Project 2
Some of the ‘bigger’ games in these bundles are Rocket Age 5e – Core Rulebook, The Great Pendragon Campaign, Arcanum 30th Anniversary Edition, MASHED: A Korean War MASH RPG, Seeds of War: Strategy Roleplay and Shadows Over Sol: Science Fiction Horror Roleplaying.
As Geek Native has not waited for any official coms from the Onebookshelf team, we don’t know whether or not the company will be paying affiliate commission to blogs that help the cause by generating sales. These payments were cut to 0% for Play it Forward, but black curators and bloggers need support as well, so it may not be a straightforward decision for OBS. Geek Native, however, has excluded affiliate links from this article.
