Victory of the Daleks is the first Matt Smith/11th Doctor Who episode to air that was not written by Steven Moffat. It was written by Mark Gatiss (of The League of Gentlemen fame). Gatiss, himself, has appeared in New Who – staring as Professor Richard Lazarus in the Lazarus Experiment.
It is rumoured, before the episode has aired, that the Daleks do win this encounter. We’re not just not sure to what extent.

Dear god let this be the last Dalek story for a long long time.
My own hope/guess is that this is the new team putting their own signature on the Daleks. It's something they'll want to do quickly and then move on.
