Fantasy and science fiction author Michael Moorcock expands his reach across print and music this October with two separate adaptations drawing from his Multiverse catalogue. Titan Comics launches Hawkmoon: The Mad God’s Amulet #1 on 7 October 2026, followed by Cleopatra Records releasing the space-rock concept album An Alien Heat on vinyl and CD on 16 October 2026.
Both projects highlight Moorcock’s long-standing connection to visual arts and progressive rock. While Titan brings French graphic adaptations of the History of the Runestaff into English, California-based collective Spirits Burning completes their musical coverage of the Dancers at the End of Time book sequence.
Hawkmoon: The Mad God’s Amulet Comic Release Details
The comic adapts Moorcock’s 1969 novel, setting Dorian Hawkmoon against the tyrannical Granbretan Empire under King-Emperor Huon. The two-issue miniseries continues the European graphic tradition originally published by French publisher Glénat.

In this opening chapter, Hawkmoon races against time to control the Black Jewel grafted into his skull. Seeking a reclusive sorcerer in distant lands, Duke Dorian must dismantle a fanatical cult while assembling allies to contest the forces of Granbretan. The run provides an English translation of Le Gris and Dellac’s French bandes dessinées, bringing heavy Continental line work and stark post-apocalyptic technology to local comic shops.
Spirits Burning and Michael Moorcock: An Alien Heat Album Production
On 16 October 2026, Los Angeles label Cleopatra Records issues An Alien Heat on blue vinyl and compact disc under its Purple Pyramid imprint. The project marks the completion of Don Falcone‘s four-part cycle adapting Moorcock’s Dancers at the End of Time sequence, following previous releases The Hollow Lands and The End of All Songs.
The lead single, “To Steal A Space Traveller”, debuted this week with vocal contributions from Blue Öyster Cult co-founder Joe Bouchard.

Don Falcone, bandleader at Spirits Burning, said in a statement:
Every Spirits Burning & Michael Moorcock album has a couple of songs that are more frenetic and need to capture the theatrical chaos and movement of the scene. ‘To Steal A Space Traveller’ is one such piece. Here, the lyrics trace how the male lead of Mike’s end-of-time story steals an alien from a menagerie so that he can trade him for the story’s 19th century female lead. It’s an absurd time written in wonderful language.”
Albert Bouchard adapted Moorcock’s prose directly from the 1972 novel into song lyrics, recruiting his brother Joe Bouchard for lead vocal duties. The track also features former Hawkwind bass player Ade Shaw, keyboardist Harvey Bainbridge, and Groundhogs drummer Ken Pustelnik.
Michael Moorcock, author, added:
The Dancers at the End of Time, after all is homage to the fin-de-siècle and its writers and artists. I wanted to set a story at the end of the world which was not a tragic apocalypse but a funny acceptance. By using the language of Wilde and his circle, I also paid tribute to their contemporary H.G. Wells, who wrote The Time Machine and the funny and existentialist History of Mr Polly. I wanted to entertain and write on a serious subject at the same time.”

Tabletop Legacy of the Eternal Champion
Moorcock’s multiverse remains deeply linked to tabletop roleplaying games. His Law versus Chaos duality provided the cosmological underpinning for early editions of Dungeons & Dragons, while Chaosium adapted his works directly in the 1980s via Stormbringer, Elric!, and Hawkmoon.
Hawkmoon’s post-apocalyptic Tragic Millennium setting introduced science-fantasy elements to UK roleplaying groups, replacing standard high fantasy with steam-driven orthithopters, ancient ray weapons, and sorcerous, animal-masked nobles. Titan’s comic run offers fresh visual references for tabletop game masters running games in post-cataclysmic settings or seeking alternatives to conventional gothic fantasy.
