Amit Moshe of Son of Oak Game Studio and Ricardo Evangelho of Hit Point Press have announced an official collaboration to bring the vibrant woodland world of Humblewood into the narrative-driven Legend in the Mist roleplaying game system. The upcoming setting book, titled Humblewood in the Mist, will launch on Kickstarter and marks a dramatic system departure for the popular animal-centric setting.

The announcement arrives as Son of Oak concludes its LaunchFest event for the underlying Legend in the Mist engine, which secured 2 million dollars in pre-launch sales and is scheduled to arrive in retail stores on 15 July 2026. This crossover represents a growing trend in the tabletop industry: major publishers seeking viable alternatives to the dominant D&D ecosystem.
The new setting book will feature the beloved birdfolk and humblefolk species completely redesigned for a rustic, cinematic fantasy framework driven by personalised character story arcs rather than traditional tactical combat statistics. Additionally, the volume will include a full campaign, along with dedicated support for solo and GMless play modes.
Amit Moshe, Lead Designer at Son of Oak Game Studio, said in a statement,
We are thrilled to announce an official collaboration between Son of Oak Game Studio and Hit Point Press. The beloved, vibrant world of Humblewood is crossing over with the rustic, evocative Legend in the Mist RPG system. Together, we are creating a brand-new setting book: Humblewood in the Mist!”
This partnership highlights an accelerating wobble among prominent third-party publishers operating within the D&D 5e and 5.5e space. By migrating a flagship setting like Humblewood, which built its massive fanbase entirely on d20 foundations, to a tag-based narrative engine, creators are actively diversifying their portfolios to hedge against platform fatigue and licensing uncertainties.
On the logistical front, while Son of Oak navigates a compressed timeline to deliver its core Legend in the Mist books to retail this summer, Hit Point Press is well-positioned to manage the operational heavy lifting. Following its successful debut at the UK Games Expo, the Canadian publisher established a dedicated UK storefront and distribution operation. This localised warehouse infrastructure provides critical assurance and freight protection for British and European backers.
