Steamforged Games has announced two new horror-themed additions to its popular Epic Encounters line. The new 5e-compatible boxes, Forest of the Damned and Glade of the Evil Oak, promise to turn a simple walk in the woods into a “thrilling D&D adventure”.

In a first for the ENNIE-nominated range, the encounters have been penned by a guest writer, Jason Charles Miller.
Both sets provide “adventure-in-a-box” content focused on “ferocious foliage” and “gnarled enemies”. Forest of the Damned and Glade of the Evil Oak each come with a set of miniatures, a double-sided battlemap, and a 5e-compatible adventure book. This follows the line’s established format of providing everything a Game Master needs for a cinematic encounter with minimal preparation.
The introduction of Jason Charles Miller as a guest writer is a new development for the Epic Encounters series. Miller, a musician and TTRPG personality, has crafted what Steamforged calls “heart-stopping encounters” for the new sets.
Miller said in a statement,
Prepare yourself to enter the forest of your nightmares. Once you take that first step, you’ll encounter things you’ve never seen before. The fauna, but especially the flora are waiting to surprise you and remind you that THEY were here first!”
Forest of the Damned and Glade of the Evil Oak are available to pre-order directly from the Steamforged Games website. While these new sets are not yet listed, the wider Epic Encounters collection is also available from retailers like DriveThruRPG.
