One of the many announcements Microsoft made at CES this year was of a mobile Fable game. Fable Coin Golf will be available for Windows Phone 7 handsets.
The interesting twist is that the game will be connected to Fable 3. Any money won by betting in Fable Coin Golf will become available in Fable 3 – and money becomes as key focus later on in the game.
This is a great strategy from Microsoft. Windows Phone 7 devices are set up to be an extension of Xbox Live. This is an area the iPhone can’t touch and the Google-Sony alliance hasn’t yet matured into. There is an official PlayStation app for Android but it’s little more than an enhanced RSS reader. The expected PSP phone, likely to be Android powered, may change this but for now Microsoft has the field to itself.
