Fans of 2000 AD and newcomers alike have something to look forward to this September, as a significant new Rogue Trooper storyline, Ghost Patrol, is set to debut. This comes hot on the heels of the first glimpses of director Duncan Jones‘ Rogue Trooper film, slated for release in 2026, making it an opportune moment to dive into the comic’s rich lore.

The new arc, penned by Alex de Campi with art by Neil Edwards, promises to delve into the secret history of the Genetic Infantrymen (GIs), the project responsible for creating Rogue and his fellow comrades. Alex de Campi, who has previously contributed to 2000 AD with works like the all-ages sci-fi adventure series Full Tilt Boogie, is no stranger to the universe. As the co-writer of the acclaimed graphic novel MADI alongside Duncan Jones, her insights into the Rogue Trooper mythos are considerable.
De Campi revealed that Rogue Trooper: Ghost Patrol is “an epic, action-filled dive into the secret history of the Genetic Infantrymen and the lost soldiers whose skills were used to build them.” For long-time fans, she assured them that “There are a ton of riffs on and references to classic Rogue stories… as well as to Duncan’s upcoming Rogue Trooper film.”

Neil Edwards, known for his work across various titles including Spider-Man, Superman, and Doctor Who, expressed his excitement about illustrating the iconic character. He told the press,
Having the opportunity to work on Rogue Trooper is an absolute dream come true! I really enjoy working on future war stories and getting to draw Rogue and all the future tech is fantastic – along with working with Alex, whose script is just super; with tons of action and twists and turns!”
Ghost Patrol is designed to be accessible for those new to 2000 AD or the Rogue Trooper character, making it an ideal starting point ahead of the movie’s release. De Campi explained that readers;
…need to know absolutely zero about Rogue Trooper to get it. This is (chad face) ‘chapter one, bro’ stuff.”
The storyline is set to feature large-scale action sequences and a fresh mystery that explores the core of the Rogue Trooper narrative, providing an excellent briefing on the character and his world.
