Mat Hart, Russ Charles, Richard August and the Steamforged team responsible for Kickstarters like Dungeons & Doggies and Cats & Catacombs have another quick Kickstarter running.
A few days are left on the campaign, which launched less than a week ago, but nearly £400,000 in pledges. What’s on offer? Minis, minis, cute minis and a 5e campaign in which mystical islands appear from magical fog. You can join in from the pledge page.
Adventures in the Faraway Sea involve a floating shantytown banked by an endless chain of mysterious and ever-changing islands. Oh, and animal people.
The Faraway Sea offers lots of art;
- 10 new playable animal species,
- 2 new classes,
- 4 subclasses
- new magical items
- one new background
Those new species are albatross, alpaca, fox, goat, koala, orangutan, otter, pig, rabbit and red panda.
The Faraway Sea is as misty as it is mysterious, and those mists hide a magical maelstrom called the Rift.
Every so often, like a clock keeping its own time, the Rift unveils a new island. Sometimes, every few days. Sometimes, not for weeks.
Regardless of when it appears, each island is unique and remains for only a short time before it is drawn back into the Rift – taking its inhabitants with it.
You get started with the rewards at just £7 for the digital campaign guide. That becomes a hardcover at £25.
For many, this Kickstarter is for the mini animal-people models. Those begin to unlock at £39 with the Animals of the Faraway Sea, Dogs of the Faraway Sea, Cats of the Faraway Sea and the incredibly cute (for now) Kickstarter Exclusive Baby Kraken.
The “core” pledge, which gets you the hardback and digital campaign guide plus those minis, costs £54.
Finally, the all-in pledge with thousands of backers costs £87 and adds Time in a Bottle, Raiders of the Lost Coast, GM screen and dice exclusives as well.
The estimated delivery is next year, October 2022.
