Wizards of the Coast have told gaming stores part of the Wizards Play Network in the US that they will receive twenty introductory Dungeons & Dragons Adventures and Spellbooks to give freely to customers.
The Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Magic: The Gathering crossover card set is coming, and with the giveaway, Wizards hopes to get collectable card game players interested in Dungeons & Dragons.
Stores that run their own D&D games can keep one of the introductory adventures for themselves; otherwise, the freebies can be handed out to customers at staff discretion.
In addition, WPN stores in the United States will also get a supply of Adventures in Forgotten Realms Spellbooks to give to every second prerelease participant.
These are branded binders, shown in this post, with card storage sheets and notebook pages. If stores have any leftover, they can be used as prizes for in-store events later.
On the flipside, to attract D&D RPG fans into Magic: The Gathering, WPN stores in the US, New Zealand and Australia will also get twenty Welcome Booster card sets to give to the first customers who make in-store purchases of any D&D products.
The marketing kits from Wizards to game stores began on the 15th in North and Latin America and start on the 25th in Europe, Japan and Asia-Pacific. The prerelease events begin on July 16th, with the set release on the 23rd.
