I guess there’s no shortage of free battle maps on the internet these days. The RPG community is full of people who do this for the love of it (you know, like spending money trying to run a geek culture blog for a hobby).
However, if you want many battle maps in the same theme, style, perspective and size ratio, it gets a little tricker. That’s usually the basis for the cartography packs on Kickstarter.
Zatnikotel can help with that. This cartographer produces dozens of maps for free. The latest is an in-game 1 million square feet of forest battle maps.
Here’s how it works. If you’re helping Zatnikotel out on Ko-fi (a tipping service morphing into a Patreon competitor) then you get access to the detail enhanced adventure edition.
If not, and you just need dozens of forest maps that all perfectly fit together then visit the Deviant Art collection where you can download the basic edition for free.
All the maps are gorgeous, even the basic edition, and we’re not talking about thousands of grid squares of repeating random tree placements either. Some of these titles contain encounter prompts or decoration.
Geek Native has featured Zatnikotel before with collections like one million dungeon tiles, dungeon dimensions, volcanic island and the original 1 million square feet.
