Out of Zelda: A Hylian Shield made from Lego

October 4, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This fantastic and rather impressive shield was built by Remi and ALyse Gagne out of Lego. The pair are stalwart lego builders and its worth checking out their sets. This is the Twilight Princess version of a Hylian Shield. The design appears through the series and includes a Triforce logo.

Violin medley of Zelda music

September 5, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

If you rather liked Taylor Davis’ collection of Zelda music in this video then you might well be tempted by her “Gaming Fantasy” album out for iTunes, Amazon and Google Play. How many of the songs did you recognise in the medley? I’ve watched more Zelda than I’ve played but I recognised a fair few […]

Today only: Ocarina of Timepiece

May 14, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Geek Native is prone to featuring Matt Needham (aka Spiritgreen) t-shirt designs. That’s because the artist is wise enough to outreach to blog with heads up of when his designs are going to be featured. You have to be quick these days as many t-shirt retailers only sell a design for a single day. That’s […]

Cosplay twins duet Zelda ballad

March 2, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Ballad of the Goddess is from Zelda’s Skyward Sword. In this video Camille and Kennerly, aka the Harp Twins, pitch their YouTube channel and using Zelda as inspiration is a good start. I think the twins should drop their CV off at a MMORPG or CRPG maker’s office. I can quite imagine them being […]

Link does Tron. The Zelda Daft Punk mashup.

December 13, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

All praise to David R Cole the designer (Flickr | @DavidRCole). Fame and hopefully fortune await now that this pretty awesome Zelda Daft Punk mashup is spreading around the web. It’s Link as Tron. Link does Tron? On his website David’s pitch is “I try and make things simple, so people are happy”. I’d say […]

Lindsey Stirling twirling her way through a Zelda Medley

November 19, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 3 Comments

There’s a lot of praise to be heaped on this video. It’s well sort. It makes use of some great locations. They push the boat out with some horse riding and some great use of fire. It’s also true that Lindsey can cleary dance. She plays that violin very well. That said there’s something about […]

Orchestra recording The Legend of Zelda 25th anniversary special

November 12, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I think there’s quite a lot of gaming music that reached iconic status. Many people recognise – even if they can’t name the come – Mario’s soundtrack, Sonic, Final Fantasy, dozens of 8-bit wonders as well as some of the new generation. BioShock, for example, is a game synonymus with its musical choices. Zelda’s such […]

Skyward Sword, the latest Zelda epic is due out this month. It actually comes out first in Europe, then North America, then Japan and then Australia. As you might epxect it’s exlusively available on the Wii. Skyward Sword is a prequel to the Ocarina of Time but rejigs the swordplay controls to take full advantage […]

Is this link too complex?

September 26, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

For some sites it can be important to have a short and snappy domain name. Long and complex URLs are also out; better to hide your technology, better for branding on social media (prone to URL shortening) and looks less spammy. So, although this looks nice – I have to ask whether this link is […]
