The pure evil blocks of LEGO Cthulhu

August 19, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

This impressive Cthulhu build was put together by Carl Merriam. To see the skill of the build just take a second to look at all the curves and smooth lines. This is a LEGO construct after all. These pieces come from dinosaur sets, snake models and other carefully repurposed blocks. Via Tested.com.

Cthulhu in crochet

July 27, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Needle Noodles shows us how to weave the patterns and summon the holy horror from beyond the web of lies. Behold; Cthulhu in crochet! If the whispers reach your ears, if your brain is shaded by the lure of insanity, if you wish to free yourself from the shackles of a soul then the instructions […]

A review of Beyond Rue Morgue: Further Tales of Edgar Allan Poe’s 1st Detective

July 9, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I enjoyed Poe’s work and Rue Morgue is one of my favourites. Despite having read Poe, despite having read the adventure of Chevalier C. Auguste Dupin and his nameless narrator I somehow missed the history of the short story. In Rue Morgue Edgar Allan Poe invents the detective. He invents the detective before the word […]

The complete Cthulhu mask

June 19, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This impressive Cthulhu mask was created by Ian Langohr. The Canadian has a BFA after attending the Ontario College of Art and Design and now creates masks, often surreal, for his costume design service. He notes; Conflicts are presented within the masks through the manipulation of scale. These are meant to be allegorical, often reflecting […]

Cthulhu Brown

June 5, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

As funny as Charlie Brown? I think so! Certainly more odd funny. Who wouldn’t want a beagle from beyond time and space? I’m reminded of this Snoopthulhu and H.P. Lovebrown design. Hat tip to WeeGamers for the find.

Call of Cthulhu takes the 7th edition to Kickstarter

May 28, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

[Back this Campaign] The video above isn’t the Kickstarter pitch video for the project. There’s no such video. There’s an image header instead which you can see below. The video was actually quite important though. It helped convince me that this wasn’t a fake Kickstarter project. There’s no mention of the pitch on Chaosium’s homepage […]

Dice Bag! A competition inspired by Zoidberg, Cthulhu and a Beholder

May 26, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood 4 Comments

At the start of the month I stumbled across a beholder! Did it kill me? Nope! The collection of eye tyrant dice bags, inspired by the familiar D&D horror, won me over with their quirky charm and usefulness. I want to rummage around in the mouth of a beast before every dramatic dice roll. You […]

Actual Corgi-thulhu print

May 20, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

File this under “I found it on etsy!” An actual Corgi Cthulhu, a Corgi-thulhu, for your wall and perhaps nightmares. The shop is Morbid Merry Goround and that’s a fine name. Here’s what they have to say about this Giclee paper print. In his house at R’lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming. Dreaming of belly rubs.

The Cthulhu cultist with goggles mask

May 5, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’ve seen people clubbing in gas masks. I suspect this particular mask might appeal to them as well. It’ll appeal to ravers, goths and those who worship alien gods from beyond time and space. This mask, tentacles and all, is on sale over at Legion Leather’s etsy store. Take note of the warning; Made from […]
