Need for Speed: The Run – movie or game?

October 24, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’m not really a fan of driving games – mainly because I’m rubbish at them. I remember all to well when one Project Gotham game had to tell me it could not find anyone worse or of the same skill level on the servers to race with; it could only find people better than me. […]

The Innunedo laden Sims 3 Pets ad

October 24, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Have you seen the latest Sims 3 Pets advert? It’s quirky. I rather like it. However, I wonder what reflection that has one me. In one scene there’s a French Maid grooming a dog and we’re told “Have a pet or be a pet”. In the background there’s a naked dude in the bathtub. We’re […]

First three PWNED clips from GamesCon 2011

August 19, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This series of sponsored videos is a fantastic way to catch up, documentary style, with GamesCon 2011. They’re sponsored by EA so expect something of an EA centric approach – but we do get gamer geek goodies such as a discussion about Mass Effect 3.

AD: The Sun versus the iPhone – round 2

December 1, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Following on from the now famous Sun ad that poked fun at the iPhone (which you would have seen on Geek Native before it became mainstream) there’s a second “There’s a page for that” viral ad. Need to send someone a kidnapping letter? The Sun’s got font for that.

The Sony Ericsson Hopper tower #pumpt (via @theweird1ne)

November 30, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

Sony Ericsson have been engaged in a bit of colourful online PR. They’ve taken the rainbow of fun hoppers featured in one of their TV ads and combined with that Twitter and video cameras. If your tweet contains the hashtag #pumpt then, for you, they’ll puff a bit of air into a deflated hopper. At […]

New World of Warcraft ad – just annoying?

November 29, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I was sitting in a room of WoW players when I asked about the latest ad campaign. “Have you seen it?” I asked, “Seen it? I’m living it,” came one reply. Check out the video yourself but be aware that this is actually happening in game. As another WoWer said; this is an odd move […]

AD: New Sun ad pokes fun at the iPhone

November 23, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is the new ad from the UK tabloid The Sun. It’s a cheeky we ad that riffs the iPhone style while poking fun at handhelds in general; no contracts, no signal worries, no small screens and photo quality photos! If the player doesn’t render in your RSS reader, sorry, you may have to clickthrough […]

Tim Burton at The Museum of Modern Art

November 18, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is too cool for words; film master Tim Burton is being featured in the Museum of Modern Art (the New York one) all the way from November 22, 2009 to April 26, 2010. That’s pretty cool news in itself but check out this little 30 second video they’ve got to publicise the date. Fantastic. […]

Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture played by 1000 mobiles and 2000 text alerts

October 23, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is an ad for Vodafone New Zealand. It features 1000 mobile phones with their ring tunes carefully selected and synchronised to play the Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture. Of course; it would equally be possible to take a single mobile with an MP3 ringtone of the 1812 overture but that wouldn’t be so cool.

AD: HD trailer for 9

October 22, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This ad from Universal makes use of Microsoft tech in order to stream some HD 9 goodness in advance of the movie release. The animation’s not due out in the UK until Christmas or thereabouts.
