9 cosplays that Reddit weirdly marked NSFW

December 7, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

What do you make of Reddit? A great place to find content? A misogynistic community? Perhaps you consider is a liberal haven or a place devoid of censorship? At a guess; few people would call Reddit prudish and conservative. If Reddit’s so risque then why do so many cosplay photographs – even those shared to […]

Life without Wizards as Trapdoor take Codename: Morningstar to Kickstarter

December 6, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This pitch for Codename: Morningstar talks about stories. It’s worth knowing the back story to Trapdoor Technologies before watching the video, I think. It began with Wizards of the Coast appointing Trapdoor to build the D&D 5e digital toolset. We don’t know what happened. There was a change of heart and the two companies stopped […]

TradeCraft Bonus: 12 geeky Christmas cards

December 5, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

How’s the Christmas shopping going? I ask that question while being dreadfully behind with mine. I still have Xmas gift cards to buy. All of the card shopping needs to be done. I think there may be just enough time to order some from Etsy. If I’m wrong – they’re good for next year! Deck […]

Tentacles of LEGO errupt from the water!

December 5, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Designed by Hen Peril and shared by Brothers Brick as “Kraken Attack!” this piece was bound to catch attention. It’s unusual to see LEGO water, let alone LEGO tentacles and I’d even suggest this much violence in a LEGO diorama is pretty rare too. Fantastic piece.

Not a shipwreck: A review of the Island of Doctor Moreau

December 5, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is a 1977 film based on an 1896 sci-fi book by H.G. Wells. In the film Andrew Braddock, played by a young Michael York, washes up on a strange island run by Doctor Moreau, played by Burt Lancaster. Braddock is welcomed and taken care of – but something is not right. The other people […]

Sponsored Video: Dragon Age’s wonderful, open, world with plenty of mature action

December 5, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

BioWare are on the record with how Skyrim has influenced Dragon Age. The Elders Scroll smash hit brought a wave of new players into the RPG area and these gamers are not familiar with some old RPG tropes, habits and styles. The third game in BioWare’s popular fantasy RPG series; Dragon Age: Inquisition reflects that. […]

Cosplayer and Etsy artist: A chat with Karin Aela

December 5, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I met Karin McClure at a comics convention in Scotland. Her detailed art immediately caught my eye. For example, this Middle Earth poster print looks like something you might get in a very expensive deluxe box set for a game. [I need this] You can see more of Karin’s work and buy prints and t-shirts […]

Full length Destiny: The Dark Below Trailer shows new gear

December 5, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The latest and last trailer for Destiny’s The Dark Below expansion puts the spotlight on the new gear; weapons, armour and Sparrow the players could get. Initial rumblings about the expansion pack are good. It’s an important one for Bungie who have made big changes to Exotic weapon and armour rules in advance of the […]
