A blast from the past: Naruto Shippuden movie 4 – The Lost Tower

March 2, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Lost Tower starts well. We don’t have some of the momentum issues that Naruto sometimes suffers from. It’s combat from the outset and it is designed to grab your attention. The start of the movie sees Yamato leading a mission to capture a puppet master called Mukade. Naruto, Sai and Sakura are with him. […]

March 2, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

US retailer Barnes and Noble have two new pre-order entries on their website. The first is D&D Starter Set and the second is D&D Player’s Handbook. There really isn’t much on either page. There’s price and release date. The D&D Starter Set is due out on the 15th July, 2014 and will cost $19.99 ($17.99 […]

Double-take: Lady Venom in bodypaint

March 1, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This “Lady” Venom was snapped by Yassir KetchuM. A Google search doesn’t reveal much more; don’t know who the model is or the bodypainter. What I do know is that this picture will make you double-take. It’s a clever bit of body painting and a striking design.

Life among the ruins: A Wreck Age review

March 1, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

I’ll admit to a degree trepidation as I fired open my PDF copy of Wrecked Age. I had no previous knowledge of Hyacinth Games, knew their ~250 page RPG used a post-apocalyptic setting and had its own rule system. I’m a big fan of post-apocalyptic settings. I’m not a big fan of tackling new rule […]

Sengoku Batman art series

March 1, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

“Sengoku” is a period of history from Japan that’s sometimes also called the Warring States Period. It foreshadows the unification of political power and the Tokugawa shogunate. Artist Scott Wade, who currently works at Airtight Games, is the talent behind this set of “Sengoku Batman” illustrations. I’ve no idea whether the style is perfectly right […]

Short film: Lead Me

March 1, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 3 Comments

This is a short film about little monsters. Some of these monsters are little terrors; nasty buggers. Whereas some of the larger monsters who live in the times and spaces we don’t notice simply seem to want to hangout and have fun. The film is a project by Omar Meradi. He started it three years […]

Zombie slaying weapon: The gun axe

March 1, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Final Fantasy fans might well be familiar with gunblades but the Tact-Axe is a real thing. You can buy the accessory from MeleeMods for just over $100. Some things to note. This wasn’t actually designed for hunting zombies. This was designed for hunting and self-defense. At least, that’s my understanding of how the system works. […]
