Animated cartography: the Perpetual Ocean

Using NASA/JPL’s computation model called Estimating the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean, DJX Atlanta have created a visualisation that shows surface currents of the oceans. The ECCO2 model actually simulates ocean flows at many depths but this visualisation only shows the surface. Dark patterns are used to represent the undersea bathymetry.
