This post contains an advert video from Samsung for the Galaxy Note. I decided to post it because I think the Note is worth talking about. I’m just back from The Gadget Show Live and one of my main observations was that the iPhone was hardly insight. To be clear, the iPad was everywhere and […]

The haunting art of Anton Semenov
Anton Semenov – also known a Gloom82 – produces some gloomy, haunting but also breathtaking art. His style is what I’ve come to expect from the Russian masters. It’s willful and commanding. You can follow him on LiveJournal.
Zelda pixel health bar necklace
Over on Etsy, home of so many geeky goods, laser cutter specialist LicketyCut has a necklace worthy of attention. Cut from acrylic, the necklace shows a three heart health bar from the Legend of Zelda. It’s 50% full (or empty, your view). Of course, this is generic enough to be a health bar from quite […]
LEGO fuses Evangelion and Gundam
This creation mixes Evangelion and Gundam styles together. I say that up front because I didn’t twig from the title “EVA Gundam”. I heard the music and though to myself – wait, no, that’s the wrong mecha. Then I doubted myself. Wait, no, maybe… It’s a mix. That’s why. It’s impressive but it’ll mess with […]

It’s impossible not to be impressed by this cosplay. This is the work of deviant Artist DonneAnonyme and its simply fantastic. War, one of the four horsemen, is the star of the first Darksiders computer game. This cosplay does the character justice.

Festo’s flying robot bird at The Gadget Show Live 2012
Without a doubt, for me, one of the highlights of The Gadget Show Live this year was the appearance of Festo’s bird robot in the Super Theatre. The Super Theatre houses a live stage show where The Gadget Show presenters entertain the audience for an hour. It’s also one of the best places to see […]
Animated cartography: the Perpetual Ocean
Using NASA/JPL’s computation model called Estimating the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean, DJX Atlanta have created a visualisation that shows surface currents of the oceans. The ECCO2 model actually simulates ocean flows at many depths but this visualisation only shows the surface. Dark patterns are used to represent the undersea bathymetry.
