Demon nurse is all smiles

October 26, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Cat Smith of San Gato Photography does nature pictures, event and pets – oh, horror too. Our lovely lady nurse here counts as horror. I like her take on life, in a blog post she wrote; The response to my first batch of monster portraits has been overwhelming! Now I’m more motivated than ever to […]

The Green Ruby Pumpkin of Halloween horror

October 25, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This rather awesome Halloween short story is a project by Miguel Ortega and Tran Ma. They’re both visual effect artists. The entire project was made in the living room. No? You can see the making of here and its fantastic (even if they have a green screen in their living room).

Freaky tea cups of spooky death and terror

October 25, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

You can pick up these creepy cups from Spoon Sisters. They take your scary Monday morning and turn it into something else entirely – an uberscare. Let’s not talk about microwave safe, though we could, let’s talk mainly about giving your mum a huge scare when she pops around. It’s hard to ignore that spider.

Little Shop of Horrors – in bone

October 25, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Remember Audrey II from the Little Shop of Horrors? He was one demanding plant. Dangerous too. It’s a good thing that Audrey II won’t come back to life as a dangerous skeletal monster this Halloween… oh. Wait… This fantastic, real bone, creation was put together by Forgotten Boneyard who sell dark and weird creatures on […]

A study in Pokemon anatomy

October 18, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Imagine if you had arcane tomes that would enable you to study the anatomy of fierce monsters and dangerous predators. Okay, nearly, in this case the monsters in question are humble Pokemon but they look rather more scary in these fantastic illustrations from Ryan Mauskopf. Why? These are Pokemon anatomy sketches.

Disney sci-fi mashup

October 15, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Imagine some of your favourite Disney characters if they were given key roles in popular sci-fi films. The old guy from Up? He’d make an excellent Obi-Wan. Mike from Monsters would be a ready-green Yoda. As it happens Amy Mebberson takes this concept and makes it work well. You’re bound to see a favourite in […]

Disney Princesses as Doctor Who

October 14, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

Princesses mashup posts are, for some reason, very popular on Geek Native. Step forward Amy Mebberson who has taken the core idea of the Disney Princess and gone one step forward by picking Doctor Who for the mashup. Jasmine as Sylvester McCoy’s Seventh Doctor is pretty cool – expect a surge in Seventh Doctor interest […]

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn screens and concept art

October 13, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Are you still tracking the Final Fantasy computer game series? Square Enix seem to understand that they need to battle hard to keep fans engaged with the franchise. Final Fantasy XIII divided gamers and Final Fantasy XIV has been receiving intensive care. This week press got their hands on screen shots from A Realm Reborn […]

Circuit board fossils

October 8, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

These are rather awesome. They are circuit board fossils by the mixed media artist Peter McFarlane. He’s successful and talented enough to have a presence over at Saatchi Online. For me, it’s the contrast between the old/the fossil and the new/the circuit board that makes this work stand out so cleverly.

The nightmare of missing keyboard keys

October 6, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Once and a while you might come across the horror that is a keyboard with missng keys. Have you ever wondered why they go? German artists Babis Cloud have a project that may provide the answer. I’ve not translated the German but I assume they’re explaining how missing keys sneak off while you dream and […]
