There is no shortage of anime adventures that tell the story of a geek who gets trapped in a fantasy world of a computer game. In a field of strong contenders, Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World is my favourite.
It can be brutal. The hero dies, but it’s a computer game, so he can come back to life. Some of the horrors come from violent and sickening death. The worst horror comes from the sacrifices. Natsuki Subaru can’t save everyone, nor could you.
Crunchyroll has just secured season 2, and I’m ghoulishly looking forward to it.
Part two of the anime will start to stream on Crunchyroll in July. You can already buy some, and pre-order a lot more, merch from the site.
Rem and Ram are fan favourites, two half-demons that are caught up in the drama, but I suspect we’ll see more of Emilia in season 2.
