Descent into Midnight has a Kickstarter with a different feel to it. It’s slick and professional, but casual and emotive. The tabletop RPG itself is also quite different in that players take on the roles of psionic aquatic creatures of their own creation.
Sound a bit different to you? Kickstarter is liking it, and with 16 days to go, as this post goes live, the team has hit their $25,000 pledge goal and are now approaching $40,000. You can see the latest total at the campaign page.
The digital copy of the game, a thank you on the site, and all digital stretch goals are yours for $20. The hardback gets added in if you can go to $40.
There’s a Limited Edition of Descent into Midnight, that also results in a library donation and a mention in the Streampunks Episodes if you can do $110.
There’s even a $5,000 tier. Don’t click it by mistake.
The first two stretch goals are unlocked, which means two streaming episodes but also a printable PDF of Harmony and Corruption tokens for your Community Playbook. That gives us an insight into the game’s mechanics, and theme – Community is right at the heart.
The PCs in the game are community guardians and have to protect against physical, emotional, and even existential threats. The gameplay is about the relationships between guardians. Remember, though, you could be a sentient bubble, a magical kelp forest or an angsty fish.
The rules will be familiar to many, Descent into Midnight in a Powered by the Apocalypse tabletop game.
